  5. squirrel, Bullwinkle the moose, Mountie Dudley Do-Right and the
  6. sinister spies Boris Badenov and Natasha Fataly; of kidney
  7. cancer; in Los Angeles. The high-camp cartoon characters
  8. invented by Ward and his partners gained a cult following among
  9. adults from the late 1950s to the '70s and, later, during the
  10. cartoons' reruns. "There's only one way for a hero to go,
  11. whereas you can have a lot of fun with a villain," Ward once
  12. declared. "Boris Badenov, for example, can say, `Somebody down
  13. there likes me.'"
